Default 17" to 20" Wheel Swap

Gents,

I am going to be picking up a 07 LT1 Tahoe with 17" on it. My dealer cant find one with in that price range and has 20"'s on it. So I want to buy the car an pick up a set on Ebay. I am thinking the dealer will have to re program the computer? What about the air pressure monitors? I am not really sure how those work. I think the days of me doing the swap will not work. Any suggestions?

Scott

I think you would be able to swap your tire pressure monitors and put them on the 20" wheels. As far as reprogramming goes, my calculations indicate that the 17" OD is 31.6 vs 20" OD is 31.9. In the overall scheme of things, this is less than 1% which is probably within the speedo error.

I've just posted my OEM 20" wheels and tires for sale in the classifieds for $1400 obo, I live in southern CA, not sure how much it costs to ship. I put 22s on mine, the tire pressure sensor is part of the tire valve, easily switched out. Check around & let me know if you're interested.

I also had the 17" wheels swapped out by the dealer for the OEM 20"'s on my new 2007 1LT Tahoe 4X4

They contacted GM Tech Assist for an updated VCI code to program into the ECM, the program not only recalibrates the tire diameter but it sets the correct algorithm for the ABS and Stabilitrak system as well.
Highly recommended and expect to pay .5 – 1 hours labor for the VCI update.

This may not be related to this issue, but with my 4" rancho kit installed and 33 inch tires on 18 inch wells, I am having a problem with the stabilitrak activating while driving around turns and causing the peddle to feel like the ABS is engaging. Can an update to any of the ECM correct this problem? Any input would be very helpful since Rancho claims there is no problems with this.

Make sure that your ECM is calibrated with the correct tire size first, if problem persists then look for faulty speed sensors or wiring and go from there.
