A friend of mine has a 1999 Tahoe that has an intermittent starting issue. Occasionally, when she attempts to start the truck, the engine does not crank, and there is a loud, rapid clicking sound that might be coming from the engine, but could also be coming from inside the dashboard. When this happens, the speedometer moves up, and the gear indicator flashes rapidly. The tachometer remains motionless. When I saw the problem, the truck had been idling for about 15 minutes and had cooled off a bit. My initial impression was that it was a starter/flywheel problem, but now that I think about it, it sounds more like an electronic issue. Has anybody seen this before and have any ideas?
