I can't seem to find the name of this piece that the hose broke from. It's located in the back of the filler neck. Also is this an important piece and what does it do? Pictures http://m.imgur.com/gallery/aAy4Y

Are there any codes being set?
That hose may be the vent from the rear differential. Some GM trucks ran the hose up to there to keep it out of water spray and road dust.
Follow the hose and see if it connects to the rear differential.
