2002 Blazer makes a whining sound when accelerating.

Is it coming from the engine bay, from under the vehicle or through the speakers?
If speakers, its a electrical whine from a poor connection or an alternator going bad, well not the alternator itself per se, but one of its internal components .
If engine bay, it could be a vacuum leak or air intake leak
If under the vehicle , could be the above issues with engine or an exhaust leak....
