Here is what i don't understand, my "spline" doesn't match with the position of the door "shaft" and with the harness plugged into the actuator but not installed on the shaft, no mattew how i adjust the a/c or heat, the actuator spline position does not move. i have tried all the stuff online to reset the acturator but none of it works. it is a manual dial style adjustment on the dash, not the electronic readout. anybody got any advice on this? thanks a lot. i tried turning the actuator "spline" but i will break it if i push any harder to turn it.

Please clarify. and maybe good photos would help.

1. So is the the new actuator itself what you cannot get to turn manually, or is it the part on the vehicle? Or do these not have the matching shape/size?

2. Does the new actuator match the previous one exactly for shape/size/orientation?

thanks for taking the time to try and help a non-mechanic. i can manually turn the shaft from about a 7oclock to 10 oclock, if that makes sense. the problem is that the old actuator that i took out fit fine, and is resting at 10oclock, so it lines right up. the new atuator is at about 11oclock, so no matter how i turn the shaft, between 7 and 10 oclock, i cant make it work as the new actuator is at 11 oclock. and then what is also weird is that with the actuator plugged in but not installed, no matter how i adjust the heat or air the actuator does not move at all. shouldn't it be moving as i adjust heat and air? and yes, the new actuator looks to be the same. the little adjustment looking thing on the back side that has three different positions is adjusted differently, as the original one is adjusted at the first position, and the new one looks to be adjusted at the second or third position. i wiol try to upload pics of the old and new actuator. thanks a lot.

The "moving part" on the actuator looks different in your photos

It was sure hard to beat the old Bowden cable method of controlling your temperature and air flow. 🤔
