I just recently bought a 2012 Tahoe LT and would like to find out if the large Chevy gold bowtie above the rear license plate is just stuck on with some kind of 3-m tape or permanet. I saw a 2012 GMC Yukon without a badge on the license plate light and it looked much better.

The gold plastic part is held on w/ an adhesive which can be cut using monofilament fishing line or dental floss. You are left w/ a chrome bowtie. It is attached to the bezel which is attached to the hatch.

The Yukon smooth bezel is attached to the hatch and you'd need to remove yours and replace w/ the Yukon part. Would also require painting.

 

Another option is to buy a vinyl graphic to go over the gold bowtie. Can get them on eBay for a few bucks. Just an idea.

 

I just did this today... Took some time but came out alright, not sure how long it will last though ill post some photos tomorrow...i paid 5 bucks for enough to do 3 bowties...and i needed it

 

Sweet. Ive had vinyl overlays on my hhr for nearly two years. Still look great!
