Default 4 wheel drive not working

I have a 2005 suburban 1500 Z71 with about 190,000mi. It is displaying a "service 4 wheel drive" message. The 4 wheel drive was working fine last year but i just went to use it and it wont do anything. I did some reading and decided to try the most inexpensive fixes first. I replaced the push button switch and cleaned the grounding wires under the truck. I also checked fuses and still nothing. I noticed that the lights on the switch come on at start up but then nothing is lit up after its started. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
