Default 85 Suburban

Hello all just found the site very nice
Anyway here goes not sure if anyone here even deals with this old of a model or if I should post in tech category but I will post it here 1st. I have 85 sub 5.7 2wd WORKHORSE! I went to pick up my kids from school stopped to get gas came home stopped at my mailbox and it just shut off!!!! I turn the key and it turns over but nothing else. I have put a new coil pack and rotor button on it that was my first guess I am lost now cause it does the same thing I am not real good at the auto work but I will try to fix it rather than bother someone else with it so sorry for the post but I am stumped so if anyone knows what else I can trouble shoot please let me know. Thank you all in advance.

Do you know if you have spark? If you do then pour a little gas (1 ounce or so) down the carb and see if it starts. If it does, it'll run for about 2 seconds. If that happens I would say you have a plugged fuel filter or bad fuel pump. That can be checked pretty easily as well.
If you don't have any spark it could be the distributor cap or coil wire.

Keep us posted!

Hello,
Thanks for the tips I actually got her running the other day I checked everything finallly tracked it down to the ecm located in the distributor 15$ part got a new one started right up so if anyone else isn't firing thats cheapest thing to check first.
Thanks all
