Default 97 suburban performance chip with MPG boost?

I have a 97 suburban but with gas climbing Its killing me. I love my truck but if I cant find some solution I fear I may have to sell it. So I was wondering if there are any reliable chips that will boost my MPG.

Thanks,
Devin

Welcome to the forum.

No chips but might check Blackbear Performance who does specific programs.

Is it a custom program company?, because they don't really have a specific list of programs or work available. What I mean to say is do you just tell them you problem and they find a solution?

If it seems to good to be true, then it probably is.

Blackbear does a custom program to meet what you want to do within reason. He can't give you 500 hp and 30 mpg.

Keep in mind that the recovery cost of a couple hundred bucks for a chip tune will take a long time to pay off if you get 1-3 miles better MPG, and 1-3 is probably the absolute top end of mpg gains...most likely less then 2mpg...

If GM could wrench more MPG out of a V8 they would have been all over it....(GM is not in cahoots with the oil companies no matter what you have heard, its not good business)

I have to disagree they may not be directly funded by oil but they are partially government owned and the government loves oil thats why even though barrel prices are down pump prices are up. Its not good business its great business.

I don't really need a chip I just want better mpg without having to tear things off or out of my burban.

In case you haven't noticed the current gov't hates oil. They essentially shut down the Gulf and extended bans on Atlantic & Pacific coasts. They even defied a Federal judge's orders to start permitting again.

At last check, the price per bbl was $109. Ref here. When Barry was sworn in, it was $41/bbl. Ref here.

And the oil companies still have the 100 mpg carb locked up.
