AC coil moving

AC coil moving
I replaced a/c clutch, pulley and coil. Worked fine for aprx 5 miles then stopped. After checking out found that the coil pin won’t stay in the hole on compressor and caused the power cord to rip. Appears the hole has been wore out on the compressor. My question is any fix for that by drilling new hole for coil pin to keep it from moving or any other suggestion I have to buy new compressor? Thanks for any help.

Welcome from Florida. You can drill the hole to the next size up and use a bigger pin. What year and vehicle do you have. A picture of the problem would also be helpful.

It is 2000 Suburban 1500 4w/d. Sorry no pix because after taking it apart to find the issue I beat the end of pin to see if that would hold it in place. If it did the I would a buy new coil and do same thing to the pin. But it didn’t hold. So I will take your advice and drill new hole and get new coil and hopefully that will work. It’s just a back up vehicle not used much but it’s hot here in Texas already. I’ll post the outcome when it get the new coil. Thanks for responding!
