Accuracy of '07 fuel range gauge

While on the road trip to CO, I noticed that the fuel range said that I could go another 65-70 miles after the fuel light came on. I had some doubts as to the accuracy. When I have a full tank after filling up, it says I have a range of like 450 miles. WTF? There's no way...

Did you try to go another "65-70 miles"?
What kind of range are you normally getting out of a tank of fuel, I get just under 450 normally and about 490 on the highway.
I'll bet that you have a fairly heavy right foot, no?

When the needle sits on empty, I don't try to push my luck. Especially with 3 screamin kids and a wife with an grudge riding along. I don't drive it much so I can't specify exact MPG's and range from actual driving experience. I have to admit, I like to hear the sound of the motor, hahahaha!

My story is kinda similar:
One silent kiddo watching a movie (but we'll call her a "screaming kid" for effect) and a wife with at least 3 grudges, no kidding; this gal can't stand the sight of me (or anyone else for that matter).

I got 475 miles on a tank of fuel on a trip from Southern Louisiana to St. Louis. Could have squeezed a little more out of the tank but did not want to take the chance.
