Just a word of caution - A programmer may void your warranty. Some programmers can be removed before dealer service, but many leave a trail in the memory. And once its goes on the Chervrolet service records, any dealer you take it to will know as well.

Going over 95 or 98mph whatever the llimiter is is just plain *** stupid in an SUV with a high center of gravity and so so brakes just to name a few. Before you start giving me crap, I am a trained Firefighter and have seen first hand stupidity by drivers who drive beyond their vehicles design. I have done my fair share of stupid things and got lucky that I did not kill myself or somebody else, but had to say something because these are Trucks not sport sedans or sports cars and we should keep that in mind. Now if you want to go to a sanctioned track, have the money, the skill, and the desire - knock yourself out.

Hey engine2, I never said anything about giong 95! That wasnt me sir!

But any aftermarket equipment CANT be used as a reason to void warranty. Unless they can pinpoint the defect directly to the aftermarket source! Has to be a proven direct cause of the problem. There is a law out there that I am sure someone can throw up here.

Biglg,
Sorry that was not directed at you. I just happened to hit the reply button that was attached to your post. I am still learning how to use all the features in this forum.

As far as voiding your warranty - For Example, your transmission fails, you take it in to dealer, dealer finds out the Computer has been modified by an aftermarket programmer to change various transmission parameters-thats all the proof they need (I would bet they would say something like, the tranny was not designed for those parameters and thus failed). I am just warning those thinking about the programmer because I know warranty denials have happened. I will be the first to tell you, that some of theses programmers are much better than stock parameters, but GM / Dealer will have a basis to deny your claim. They may not catch it, but I just put out $40K on this truck and cant afford to pay for a new motor, tranny, etc.. on top of that. Like I said if you got the $$$ and are willing to take a chance losing warranty coverage go for it.

I understand on the warranty issues! I also definately couldnt afford a new tranny or engine on top of what I am paying a month for my tahoe either!

However, I think my dealer may be cool. I didnt ask them about warranty issues. I plan to unprogram it everytime i take it in.

In fact, my dealership recommended a programmer. When i went to 24's I asked them if there was a GM program to upgrade the tahoes computer to 24's, he said no they only have one for 22's. He then said I could get a programmer that would allow me to change the computer! I thought wow, never heard a dealership tell me this! This was the service managers recommendation!

Get it in writing!

I agree with engine2. I hope those that are going 95+ are flashing their foglites while they are talking on their cell, watching the latest movie, and eating a BigMac. That way we can pull over while they go by.
