Default Axle Seal

I have a 1997 tahoe 4x4. I was able to knock the right axle out of the front diff, but i cant get the left side to pop out. Ive tried using a slide hammer with no luck...isnt there just a snap ring holding it on?? The seal is leaking very bad so it has to come out. Is there some kind of method to get it out>?

Did you open it up? There may be a C-clip in there holding the shaft to the spiders, you should have removed first. Check it out. All that tugging with a slide hammer, you may have bent it. I hope not.
