Here is a document that was released june 30th '08

Subject:
New Blue Tooth Option

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
2009 models equipped with RPO UPF are Blue Tooth compatible with cell phones. The vehicle must also be equipped with redundant steering wheel controls (RPO UK3) and OnStar (UE1). There is no retro fit kits for prior model years and/or vehicles without the proper options (UK3, UE1). Additional information / installation instructions will be on each Marketing Division's web site.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Verify correct RPOs to ensure vehicle is blue tooth compatible.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

Thanks shawnvw.

For those who are wondering, UK3 includes the audio, DIC, and cruise controls.

Does that mean that the UK3 on the 2007 is not the same as on the 2009?

no, UK3 is merely an RPO code letting people know if the vehicle has steering wheel controls or not

I installed a BlueConnect unit from www.autointelligence.com a couple of months ago in my 07 Tahoe LT. It ran me $249. (It's the same essential unit as the U-Connect in Chrysler, Toyota and Honda's) It is FABULOUS. It's impressed quite a number of my friends with it's clarity. I don't have a sunroof, so mine is mounted in the headliner by the center overhead console. It is far better than the Parrot 3000 and RayTel 5000vi units I've had in the past. I had the grill painted to match my headliner. It looks OEM. But the important thing is that IT WORKS GREAT !!!!!! It's only drawback is that you cannot listen to Visual VoiceMail on an iPhone through it. (This is more a function of how Apple implements it rather than the BlueConnect unit.)

I can't believe AC Delco or GM doesn't have any products that can be installed (behind the dash) that will interface with the factory system to play through the speakers, show calls on the monitor, and use the existing built-in ONstar mic to make it like a factory option. Are theytoo married to OnStar?

I used to use my just pay for the onstar phone minutes so it was like I had Bluetooth
