Default Brake Light Inop

Wondering if anyone has a solution to my problem! 2007 Chevy Tahoe, Left brake light will not come on when the brake is engaged. Replaced the bulb, checked the grounding all were good and the right side has no issues. Had a mechanic friend check it as well... he thinks it may be the BCM.
Has anyone had this issue before? Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance!

Since the right stop light is working you can rule out the BCM. The BCM supplies one signal to both stop lights.

I would check the wiring harness to the light, it is likely to have a connection or two that may need to be re-seated or is damaged by rock or other debris being thrown up under the vehicle.
You could for sanity check, connect the right tail light assembly to the left to verify it all works
