Default Butt-ugly exhaust resonator

I was nervous about removing the horrible looking resonator from my 07 Tahoe. I totally loved the fact that this vehicle was opera hall quiet, so I didn't want to go with a complete exhaust system. The resonator hanging out like something that needed Preparation-H really started bothering me, though. I finally cut it off and installed a stainless steel Magnaflow 3 1/2 inch slant cut/rolled edge tip coming out at the corner of the bumper. The sound increase is barely perceptable (even being paranoid about it an listening very closely) when accellerating, but is still very quiet at cruising speeds. I am happy that I did it, it looks great and the decibel and tone difference are a good trade-off. I did it my self and it cost $40.00 for the tip. I think most muffler shops would install the tip for another $40.00.

Thanks for this...I've been mulling over this as well, but was afraid of the sound difference...we drive our two kids (1 and 4) in this vehicle and I didn't want to make it louder.

Which MagnaFlow P/N did you get? Did it slip over the remaining pipe or was it the same or smaller diameter?

Sure is a lot cheaper than a complete cat-back system.

I'm not sure of the P/N...I've had the tip laying around from a system I put on a 'burb of mine a few years ago. I just put about a 5" extension of scrap exhaust tubing and trimmed the end of the tip to fit. I would post pix, but I'm too dumb to know how. Maybe someone can help...

When I post the pix, I'll do some measuring and post the measurements as well.

Here are some more details...

The tip itself is 4" x 15", extension from the original pipe to the tip is a bit over 6" long and about 3 1/4" in diameter.
