Default Carrier Bearing ???

I'm eliminating some possibilities of the issue my wife's burb (2007 Burb 1500 LT 2WD) is having.

Symptoms are:
  • a little higher rpm (300-400) between 60-70mph
  • there is a definite hum/whine (it's like a "winding up" feeling/sound) on acceleration. opposite happens on deceleration (an "unwinding")
  • slight but noticeable vibration on floor board and steering wheel.
Is it possible that the symptoms I've described could be the carrier bearings? I went back through the service records and rear carrier bearings were replaced @ 57,000 miles.
Are there known issues with the carrier bearings going out on this particular model truck?

I appreciate the input and feedback.

I want to say our 2005 had a bad carrier bearing, it gave up at about 40,000 miles but I think the only symtom we had was vibration.

But that could be a cause of your problems. Check the drive shaft at the bearing and see if there is a bunch of play. Or, you can remove the bearing and turn it by hand and see if there is any rough spots in the rotation or too much play. Also you could jack the wheels up, put some stands under the frame not the axle and have some one put it in drive and let it turn so you can listen for noises. But you gatta be real careful.
