Default Dating a 1920's Chevy

I have a friend rebuilding a 1920's Chevy but Swansea are not keen giving a date related plate without a number on the chassis is there any way of proving the build date?

Is there a number on the engine? If there is you might be able to use that to help find the date. The link below could be useful to you in the rebuilding process.
