I am fully aware of the study. I am trying to disable the sensor that turns on my low-beams. I have a set of HID and I don't want those to turn on automatically. Any idea of how to disable the sensor?

Lets concentrate class. The subject is now:

How do you disable sensor from turning on the LOW BEAMS.

I would however like to point out that you named the thread "Disable Daytime Running Lights"

Any studies on how much motorcyclists dislike them because it reduces the visual awareness of them with their lites on?

tahoe07 is right... the real question how do you disable the sensor that turns on the the low beams. i was also told that you can purchase a set of HIDs
that have a relay pack to prevent only on HID from turning on for vehicles that have auto headlights. however i do not know how true this is...

In recent studies DRL's have been found to reduce the likely hood of a head collision (on two-way roads) by as much as 37%.

I cannot think of a single prudent reason to disable this feature.
RUBBISH. [:'(]
There's a zero sum gain as increasing numbers of automobiles use these - an ever-diminishing effect.
They also decrease the effectiveness of headlight use for motorcyclists.

I believe you candisconnect the photo resister in the dash and connecta resistor in its placeto keep the headlightsfrom coming on automatic. For theheadlightsto stay off there must be resistence running through the circuit. You could use a 12 volt LED to do that too. Place the wires of the LED or resistor in the two holes left by the removing the photoresister connecter at the end of the wire. By doing this you should only be able to turn on your headlights using the headlight switch on the dashboard and should also keep any trouble codes from popping up.

Please do tell on what basis you figure that DRL's are unsafe then.

Hey guys, bringing up an old subject apparently. I particularly do not like the daytime running lights...there has got to be a way to disable them on an 07 Tahoe. Anyone know how, short ofpulling the fuse or taking out the bulbs?

instead of disabling them. take half a second when you get in the jump seat and TURN THEM OFF. that way, you have the option of running them opposed to permanent shut off.
(toggle the light dial to the left).
