Default Electric cooling fan running, temp gage reading cold

2016 Suburban Z71-last night the electric radiator fan came on while driving. Temp gage was reading cold. Turned the engine off and the fan continued to run for several minutes, This afternoon, checked coolant level-good. Started the engine, radiator fan came on immediately. Let it run to see the if thermostat opened-it did. Let it run for a few minutes until it was up to temperature and the gage still read cold, fan still running. Thoughts? Temp sensor?
Thanks!

When you start it cold does the fan continue to run during the entire warm up time or does it cycle?

Continues to run. Also, runs for several minutes after shut-down.

Check for codes in the PCM and HVAC module.

An intermittent/erratic/missing ECT signal can cause the fans to default to on in order to protect the engine.

If equipped with an active grille shutter, also check to make sure that it’s working - it should cycle full open to full close immediately after starting.

Update-Bad Thermostat. New thermostat and fresh coolant, all is good.
Thanks, guys, for your responses!

I am having the same issue with my 2015 Silverado. I replaced the temp sensor and it worked fine for about a month. I didn’t change the thermostat. The problem started again today. I guess I will change the thermostat and the temperature sensor again and see what happens?….
