Front Bumper Lip

Front Bumper Lip
I was cleaning the 07 Tahoe last Sunday and noticed that the bumper lip is all scuffed up. I was thinkin of removing this lip. For a 4X4, I would like to take advantage of the maximum height of the truck.
Has anyone tried this before or am I better of replacing that lip?
Thanks.

RE: Front Bumper Lip
If you plan to off-road the Tahoe then it may be a benefit to remove the black plastic air-dam other wise it is a good idea to leave it on the vehicle, it assists in maximizing fuel efficiency (albeit slightly), it is just one more piece in the box of goodies that are aimed at <MPG.
If the scuff marks bother you then replace it, the part is inexpensive and easy to R&R.

ZX, I have heard on some vehicles the front "air dam" actually aides and directs air flow to the engine compartment. I take it this is not true for the Tahoe's?

You are correct there are many air dams that also direct cooling air into the radiator (Old's Aurora is one that comes to mind), not the case on Tahoe though, you'll notice that Z71 has next-to-no air dam.

the z71 has an airdam too, but it is very small compared to the ltz and lts. On mine im averaging about 12 mpg, thats calculating 18,400 miles by the amount of gallons burned. how much does an air dam run? I had to trim into mine to fit my tires into, and what about the plastic inner fender wells? thanks
