Default Fuel Pressure Regulator Location on a 97 Tahoe

Can anyone tell me where this is located? From what I've read online it's located in the intake manifold. Is this accurate? How hard of a fix is it for someone who knows cars but not as well as a mechanic? It sputters when it starts and has a slight vibration at idle. A few days ago there was a pop off the engine block and a bunch of smoke can pouring out. A shop quoted me at $515 to replace this. I'm trying to save some money by doing it myself. Also I'm supposed to take this car on the road from VA to New Jersey. Is this a problem that can leave me on the side of the road? Any help is much appreciated.

it is under the upper intake plenum, attached to the central injection unit. i would also check idle air control valve and egr. clean if dirty. would def have things fixed up before road trip.

Smoke was coming from underneath the hood. Tried to hop out real quick and see the location but couldnt find exactly from where. How do I check the fuel pressure? I do that by hooking it to the regulator, right? Thanks for the tip.
