i assume stock pump is going out? an external frame mount wont work inluss you dissamble the pump module and remove pump. but at this point might as well replace stock pump with oe type.

Actually it's still going good but at 195000+ I"m assuming it's a matter of time.I was going to get the parts and have on hand so when the time comes...yes I plan on removing the tank pump but only want to drop it once.

My .2 cents... if you got 195k out of the first one and replace it with an AC Delco pump it will most likely be the last pump you have to put in it....

Default fuel pump

Suppose I could use a stock in tank pump but I was wanting to try some thing different so if it ever went out again it would be a quick fix...unbolt old pump bolt in new pump...why should it have to be in the tank?Besides I like doing thing different.

Efficiency... having the pump/filter/float in one compact unit saves on parts, weight, manufacturing and repair... a smaller, lighter more efficient pump can be used since the fuel will be used to cool it...Its one operation to install the pump unit at the factory since it all comes pre-assembled...
