Does it still interrupt active mapping / tracking on the navigation screen when enabled ?

I am sure it does. This is something that can not be changed because the only way to get video on while driving is to tell the nav that you are not moving.

All Auto Navigation units are designed to use the VSS wire from the vehicle to move it all over the MAP. If you get no signal the Navigation unit will not think you are moving so you can watch DVD's, etc. Only downfall is that since there is no signal you will also not move along on the MAP. There is nothing that you can do to change this functionality and you will not find any fix that will change this.

I like the fact that this unit is plug- in-play but i dont like the fact it does disable the navigation system. I know that in other Navigation systems, there were modules that would interupt the data going to the screen itself and input a video source of your choice. You would open up the radio, disconnect the data cable that plugs into the screen and plug in a special cable, then install everything back. Or, you would go to the navigation computer under the seat or in the trunk and connect a harness that would go between the computer and the screen. That would allow the navigation system to function in the background. Does anyone know if anyone is working on something like that? I don't use the navigation system much but it would be nice to have the navigation system to give me audio prompts when the screen is being used to display video.
