Default Keyless Entry Problem

My keyless entry will not work until i put my key in the driver's side door and unlock the door. Then the keyless entry activates itself and works fine. Is this a security feature? Does anyone know how i can turn off this feature or fix the problem. I would like my keyless entry to unlock my car without haviong to put my key in the door. Do i need to reset the system somehow or something? Can anyone help!!!!
