Default lm7 timing cover installation

I am currently replacing the engine in my 2000 suburban. I bought a used engine and and doing a refresh (oil pump, gaskets, etc). I'm trying to determine if i need to get an alignment tool for the timing cover so the crank seal is aligned. Has anyone done this job? What was your experience?
