Default Looking at a 2001 Suburban

I am new to this forum, and am looking at a 2001 Suburban, 1500, 4X4, 91k miles for $5800. My son needs it because he lives in the Snow. I test drove it, and it drove real smooth. The only issue was when I put it in 4 wheel and made a u-turn, the wheels seemed to bind and resist a little. After completing the turn, I put it back into 2 wheel drive and it seemed to clunk into it. I later put it back into 4 wheel drive on a straight path, and then back into 2 wheel drive, and it went very smooth. Should I be concerned about that? What other issues can I expect with that year model that might become expensive? Thanks for your advice! Also, what would be a good offer?

I'm in a good mood, so I'll give you the benefit.

1. it's normal
2. DON'T DO THAT - sharp turns on dry pavement in 4 wheel drive will break things!

Your 4wheel drive sounds fine and is acting the way it should. If indead you are new to 4x4s stop and talk to any 4x4 owner and they will brief you on operating the 4x4 unit. With 98000 on it, I would ask the current owner what he/she has done as far as repairs go. If not done, I would change the oil, trans fluid/filter,diff fluids, plugs and go. Heck, $5800 sounds pretty good for a 2001 4x4 if its not beat up.
