$199 is the regular price also. I believe the 2007s and possibly 2008s were the only years w/ the free upgrades and that was only for a couple of years.

 

So where is the DVD? Is it part of the radio? We have an 08 Tahoe LTZ How is it removed to find out what vintage the disc is?

 

Go to the menu and pick map data or something like that and then you'll get a screen which when you touch the button, the screen will fold out and eject the DVD. Probably explained better in the owner's manual.

 

click menu on the nav unit, then make sure that "nav" tab on the top of screen is selected. In the nav tab, click on "map database information". Then click "change" and the nav screen will pop out and eject the nav disk.

I still don't understand why they won't offer discounted upgrades. I mean, I have no problem paying $20 or $30 a year for the newest version...especially considering I have free Nav courtesy of my Android phone. They have no idea how much business they are losing. I will take my dollars somewhere else.

 

We purchased a used 2007 Suburban LTZ at the end of December from a dealership. I did not think to check the navigation disk at the time, but about a month later I discovered that it was version 2.0 from 2007 and did not even show our street. I called the number listed on the GM Navigation Disk website, 877-628-3472, and about 10 days later they sent me the 2011 version 6.0 100% free of charge.

The person I spoke to told me that every vehicle gets one free Navigation Disk upgrade.

 

Hummmm that's the same thing the crack dealer said.

 

I just called that number and was told the free update is only for 2006/7 vehicles.

 

Now that comment was funny...
