Default need some advice

Bought a 98 tahoe z back in August. Straight from lot took him for oil change etc. Installed new air filter. now here i am 9,000 miles later i check filter and its clean and spiffy as day it was put in. I doubt filter fairy installed new one as I slept so i am confused on this one. "Booger" is a gas hog and gets a lot of daily miles both on and off highway. Any ideas????

Default air filter

Some of these filters go 20-50k between changes now... not sure on the '98 spec. You could also be driving in very clean areas

air filters will last far longer than 9k... I tend to change mine about once a year.
