Newbie 24" wheels questions
Sup guys, I've been a member for a few months and finally got my brand new 2007 Tahoe LT3 summit white. What can I say, I love this truck. Best vehicle I ever purchased. Now Im thinking about upgrading from stock 17's to some 24's but have a few questions before I go any further. I did some search and answered a few of my questions, but I have a few more that I need answered. So, I'm looking for all the new owners who's sitting on some 24's to answer my questions. But feel free to read and post.
First = My boy has a 2000 Tahoe that has some 24x10 KMC Dimes 6 lugs pattern that I want to buy from him. Are they going to fit my 07 Tahoe? If yes, would there be any type of rubbing when im cruising/driving or turning?
Second = I know the 2007 tahoe comes with all these autoride, stabilitrak, sensors and other stuff that I'm not really familiar with that might need adjusting due to putting on bigger wheels. Can you guys tell me the things I need to do, like what type of upgrades and updates to have my hoe riding smooth on some 24's?
Third = The rims wheel cost me more than $2gs. Do you guys have any idea on how much more I would spend just updating stuff? Are any of these things covered by the warranty? If not, where can I have it done for a good reasonable price, since I know dealers always try to make money of you somehow?
Final = Have any of you new tahoe owners who has 24's on your ride had problems with long road trips with more than 5 hours drive? Im from the Bay Area, my boys and I go on road trips all the time to Vegas, LA, San Diego. Im concerned that If I have some low profile tires that there will be problems with heat due to the long drive.
I know some of it might be stupid questions, but will appreciate any kind of help at all. Thank you guys for taking the time on reading this thread.

The pattern has to be 6 X 139.7. I have 24" incubus paranormals with falken 305-35-24 tires. Mine do not rub at all even when I turn the wheel all the way.
All the 07 has is tire pressure sensors which you will have to have taken out of your old wheels and put into your new ones. Its a pain in the *** and the guys at discount tire didnt like me that much but I spent $4500 on them so they can kiss my A**. The tires are the main thing that make it ride smooth. I have Kumho's about 8 months ago and I like the Falken's ride better
If you didnt want to take the tire pressure sensors out, you can buy them from the dealership (like $300) at the most and put new ones in. Everything is covered under your warranty like normal. Go to discount tire. It was like $150 for installation with the tire pressure sensors.
I drove from Dallas to South Padre a month ago and had no problems whatsoever. Thats why the tires are so damn expensive. Less rubber but more $$. I wouldnt suggest doing all the road trips in your car cause they tires are anywhere from $400-$600 each.

the new wheels should bolt up no problem. but like jeff said, you'll need to install pressure sensors. (unless the tire pressure light doesn't bother you)
depending on the tire series (35 or 45) you probably get minimal rub with a 45. this usually happens only at full crank like when you're backing out of a driveway or tight parking space.
the only upgrade i would consider is bigger brakes. not completely neccessary, but a good idea since it's a safety issue. the brakes on my 03 yukon didn't "bite" after i put my 24s on. stoppping distance was noticeably longer (especially coming down an offramp). the Baer upgrade helped alot.
unless there is some BS rubber on the wheels (like Falkens) i wouldnt worry about long trips. i drove from San Diego to Dallas on Toyos without worry. just watch out for them potholes!

Well, I called a coulpe of shops that specializes on custom wheels. They told the 24' rims from an older tahoe wouldnt fit the new 07 tahoe because the offset of the backspacing are different. I guess Im fresh out of luck.

uuh. i could be wrong but that doesn't sound exactly right to me.
there is usually a range of offsets that can be used. but 24 inch wheels are usuallymade in positive 25. this offset is at least compatible with 2002+ models, including the 07. not sure about pre-02s.
a friend of mine took the 24's off his 04 yukon and slapped them on the 07 tahoe without problems. i would double check that info with other shops or maybe a tech.

interesting. i had no idea the front end of the 07 has different measurement. that's gonna make it hard for alot of peple to buy wheels. there really isn't alot of choices when it comes to offsets (unless you drive a civic where each wheel model is made in 8 different offsets). most every wheel i would consider for myrig only comes in +25.
and like e mentioned, offsets are measured in millimeters so there's absolutely no way a difference of 10 can make the wheels stick out 1 to2 inches. 10mm is less than 1/2 inch.
but i guess that half inch can make a visible difference and a huge difference when it comes to rubbing. i saw that you put them up for sale. maybe you can find some to shave down like e did. or even better, a nice wheel that's offered in variable offsets.
