Hello all

new here to this forum but long time Chevy/ gmc driver
currently have a 22 Silverado as my daily and an OBS Tahoe 97 with the 5.7. From the Chicago land area born and raised. Had my 1st Yukon 02 xl which I loved and ended up selling cause I got a steel on my 97 obs and just had to many trucks in the driveway.

looking for some insight I’m looking at an 08 LTZ suburban that needs heads and gaskets. I’m a DIY mechanic and have swapped a few engines and trans in my time so the work is nothing to me.

question my obs has the 5.7 with only 97k on the dash and the trans was rebuilt at 80k so pretty much solid, the body can use a lot of work since it sits and is rusting away.
I want to know is it possible to swap in the trans and engine as plug n play or would major mods be needed? Or can I just swap motors?
any help would be appreciated I will buy a used motor if needed but figure I can use the parts I have available and just scrap the obs lots of rocker rust paint issues and typically wheel fender rust.
