Default Pioneer AVIC-Z1 Install

I had a local car stereo order me an adapter kit for my 07 so that i can have this aftermarket Navigation installed. They have never installed anything on an 07 before but were confidant that they could do so. Now after reading some of these posts im starting to doubt that they can. Anyone have this Nav unit installed or is there something i could warn them about so they could fix the problem before it happens?

yes i have one installed in my tahoe...do a search on this forum and you should be able to get some more info...i will tell you that getting a VSS is a pain, i ended upgetting it at the wheeland if they dont grab the right wire you will not get accurate directions. if you have any other questions feel free to ask..i also posted some pictures of it installed a few days ago if you wanna see how it looks installed.

do you guys know the code to unlock the dvd and full menu when driveing?

if all wires are hooked up right.
Turn you lights on, ( not auto ) and use your dimmer switch..
when you start your truck, ( light on ) when you see the top left cornor on the Z1 says system start or something cant remeber right now, when you see that turn your dimmer on and off, if you do this right it will unlock the gryo and let you watch dvd when driving, plus unlock all menus. ( no more ebrake)
there is a auto swith you can hook up that does the switchs for you.

you have to turn ur parking lights on and off 3 times back on fourth to bypass the dvd lock or u can put on a switch that has constant and flick the switch 3 times back and fourth

3 timesmeaning back & fourth is once, back & fourth again istwice, back & fourth again is 3 times

Hi. Explain exactly what you did or have to do for the DVDs to work...
Since when can you not just ground the parking brake lead for the player?
What wiring harness adapter did you use?

i hooked all the wire up the right way. ( tryed everything else no luck )
then when i get in. i turn the light on ( not auto ) and when you see someting in the left corner. i think pioneer systems, you turn your dimmer on the off ( all the way ) and you have to do it when the text is in the left cornor not before and not after.

and that is it. But make sure the dimmer wire is hooked up. ( please remember this is when the z1 and 07 tahoe first came out )
they (DPI or DIP or something D$$) a switch that you can hook up.. i have the part number somewhere but havnent hooked it up.. I dont mind doing the song and dance..

let me know if that worked for you.
but all wires have to be hooked up.. i.e. brake, dimmer, etc....
