Power Steering Pump Replacement-wp_20160425_22_44_22_pro_f672522cfbbea3c74a736ba4d0bec50a8fd6bfef.jpg

Hello,

I am driving this truck to Florida in a few days and need to get it back together.

I put an aftermarket reman pump in this 4 years ago and it has whined from the beginning. It is getting worse and I lose power assist sometimes with a load.

I ordered what looked to be the right AC Delco pump this time online. All the parts store around here only carry remans.

My original pump has an elbow of sorts on the bottom pressure line. At first I thought I could move it over. Now I am stumped. Is there a way to thread it on without removing the welded on line?

Also, it has a pigtail that I assume is for a sensor. Can I eliminate the electrical connection and elbow and thread the hose right into the reservoir? It seems most Chevys are that way, at least the videos on Youtube are... Why is mine different?

Thanks for any help/insight

I figured it out.

The elbow piece doesn't have to turn with everything else. The switch and sensor thread through the elbow piece and into the pump. The seal is an o ring, not the switch seated tightly.

The new pump came prepped for high pressure hose. I had to remove that piece and thread in the elbow piece from my old pump.
