Rear A/C Unit and By-Passing it
Hello ALL,
I've got a 1999 GMC 1500 SLT Suburban. 140K miles Still doing well.
I want to disconnect the rear air... (It's Leaking & I tried a repair which went even worse) So... I know the two lines are in the front, near the drier and the Air Cleaner box...
Does anyone know of special fittings? Or the thread size of these fittings?
I'd like to cap off the two lines and just run the front A/C.
I've read the charging is half what is recommended, and use an o-ring with the procedure is necessary.
Is there a special fitting?? Or can I just get an acorn nut and put it on there?
Any input will be appreciated... Thanks much!!

I would not recomend trying this, you will never cool with just the front ac. I have basically the vehicle as you, it's just a bit shorter. I would not attemp to cool mine w/o the rear unit on, it's the backbone of the system. Bite the bullet and have someone who is a QUALIFIED A/C MECHANIC to fix it for you, you wont be sorry.

If I understand your question correctly, you are looking to block off the lines...
There are kits available to cap off the rear AC lines...check out this link
Search , Auto Air Conditioning Parts & Heaters
