Default rear diffferntial

hi..have a 2013 suburban LS 4x4 and my truck does not have the locking rear/limited slip diff..i would like to add this feature to my suv. I would like to know if I have to swap out my rear and put one in that has the limited slip or can I just add the gear kit for the limited slip. also if anyone knows the part number for the rear the has the locking rear/limited slip. it is the same rear that comes standard with the LT or LTZ model. it has 3.08 gear ratio...thank you rob

I think you should be able to add the G80 differential but remember that the ratio has to match the front.

G80 is the option code. Your axle ratio code is on the codes listing in your glove box or console compartment. Someone here can probably decode that for you or if not your dealer can through your VIN.

Look in your Glove Box for a Sticker like Shark said, and give us all the codes which start with the letter "G".

hi..the only g code I have according to the sticker in the glove box is GU4...but I also have YD3 which according to a decoder site I found YD3 Differential, driver-selectable locking rear
YD3 Differential, driver selectable rear locker
YD3 Front Axle For Scheduling GVW Plate
YD3 AXLE (BASE EQUIP) FOR SCHEDULING GVW PLATE
what do you think...thanks rob

Uh ... sounds like yours was at least supposed to have a locker from the factory. Did somebody take it off?

whats the last eight of your vin?

yd3 isn't a build option for your vehicle. the decoder site is flawed

gu3 is the 3.08 rear end ratio.
