A dealer can tell you from the VIN. Meanwhile something in this may help.

Look in your glove box for your SPID label. Its a sticker with several 3 digit groups of letters and numbers with all your features and options. ZX posted a reference to which the corresponding groups stand for. For Example G80 means you have rear locking differential etc...

1hot, let me know what kind of price quote you get. I am interested in this too, but heard you would be better of just to trade for one with 4:10's.

Landon, I dont think trading would be better. You will loos several thousands in trade. It only cost a couple of hundered to get the ring and pinion switched. I have done this to almost all of my vehicles. I do have the 3:42. When I was buying that was one of my main considerations. I wanted the 5.3L with at least 3:73. After test driving several with 3:73 and 3:42, the difference was very minimal. Since I will not tow anything havier than my sportbike I am not worried about it.

I really dont know the cost. But I would like to know, so if someone finds out just let me know.

ZX is actually the one that said upgrading would not be worth it and to trade vehicles. I know mine is 4x4 so i would have to have two sets of gears. However, it seems ZX was saying it was more complicated than the gears and just changing them out. I can find the post on this. When someone gets a quote please let me know. Thanks, Landon.

The rear gear set isn't too bad to change out and GM will generally provide an updated VCI to recalibrate the ECM for this change however; if you have a 4X4 the front gear set is much more complicated and very expensive to swap.

Thanks for the clarification Dave.

However, can someone provide more insight on exact or closer costs?? Are we talking $500 expensive, or $2,000 expensive to change front and rear gears in my 4x4?
