Default Rear heat, already changed actuator???

Last weekend I changed the actuator that controls the temp for the rear/auxiliary heat. Unfortunately the system still is not working properly. I know the old actuator was bad as the gears would just move all over the place when the control was never being moved. When I put the new actuator in place, turned on the rear heat and the actuator ended up turning all the way to the cold side (passed the little mark where it should stop). I took the actuator out and readjusted everything to center, same as where the heat control was at, turned the system back on and then the actuator went all the way to the hot side (again passed the mark where it should stop). So, I ended up leaving the actuator in place but have unplugged the power to it so that I still have heat in the rear at all times. Has anybody had to change the heater/ac control unit that sits to the left of the actuator? Looks like rockauto.com part number 1573506 for $76.79. Is there something else I should look for?

I seem to vaguely remember someone saying that the HVAC has to be reprogrammed. Might check w/ your dealer service dept.

Really? After replacing the actuator? And here I was hoping to stay away from the local dealer.

Thank you for the reply.

Before you resort to taking it to the dealer, try the instructions near the end of this tutorial for resetting climate control hvac vehicles. The tutorial is for installing a mode actuator, not rear actuator, but resetting hvac procedure would be the same. Sparky's Answers: 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, Changing the Mode Actuator, Code B0263
