Default Rearview camera view

I'm considering the purchase of 2007 Tahoe. Can anyone tell me if the Rearview Camera really allows you to view the hitch for hooking up a boat? Can you use it back backup a boat (that is, a wide view of the trailer)? Is it hard to change the camera angle?

Thanks

Its the best when you beed to back under the ball of the trailer. You can do it without any help from someone telling to go left or right.

I didn't use it when backing up, I think its safer to use the mirrors.

Just used to launch my jet ski. Works well for trailer hookup. I can't use for backing as I can't translate the correct steering input in my brain. Seems backwards. So I just look out the back.

Since it's rigidly mounted, the view can't be changed.

73shark, if you check the preferences, you can set the backup camera to show a mirror-view or a regular view. Try switching it... although I agree with 07summitwhite: it's great for lining up the hitch but it doesn't seem to be appropriate for backing up in other circumstances. In my opinion you can't see far enough to either side despite the fisheye lens. It's also difficult to tell how straight you're going.

We have a big garage and a small one, and sometimes I park The Barn the small one (I have a Suburban, not a Tahoe). In that case I also use the backup camera to tell when the hitch will clear my garage door, which gives me maximum room in front of the truck, about six feet in the small garage ... the big garage is 45 feet long, not really a problem.

I forgot about that. Will try next time.

However I learned to back trailers and wagons on the farm by looking over my shoulder. Probably the old "can't teach an old dog new tricks" syndrome.

It works outstanding to backup to a hitch and parallel park. but as for trailer maneuvering, stick to the side views and rear view. The rear cam won't give you any usefull info except to see that the trailer is still attached to the ball.
