Default Spare Tire Hoist

Well these things are a pos. I had to cut mine down and now am looking for a replacement one for my 03 Sub. Z71. My question is: is the one for the newer 07&up the same? I know the part number is different but they look a lot alike in pictures off ebay. The newer ones are way cheaper. Just wondering if anyone has used a newer one?

Thanks Kevin

The main problem I've seen with stuck spare tire hoist is people are scared the tire will fall off so they crank it too tight. What might help in the future is to release air from the tire. That reduces the tension, and might let it go down without cutting anything.

I know, letting the air out of the spare just when you need it is stupid, but what else can you do?

Mine came down about 4" before it quit moving. It wouldn't go up or down it would just click. I am guessing that the cable jumped the guide or something.
