1999 Suburban, gas v-8, 129,000 miles
Yesterday I drove to pick my child up from school (about 4 miles round trip). 30 minutes later we climb in to go to tennis practice and it wouldn't start. The fuel pump in the tank did not kick on with its usually humming sound. Today after preparing to drain the tank and getting all the needed stuff to replace the fuel pump I decided to crank it and it fired right up. I cut it off and on 4 or 5 times without any issues.
I haven't driven it yet because I dont want it to stop somewhere not convienant. Any help is appreciated.

I agree with Kevin ... If its original there could be settlement in the tank and while the tank is empty it just makes sense to replace the pump while your there (one less thing to worry about a month from now!) good luck

Replace it. I just had the exact symptoms in another brand of vehicle, let it go, left my wife stranded, oops!
Just finished dropping the tank, replacing the pump and lifting the tank on Friday. Sucked but fixed, yay!
If $ is an issue, check junk yards. I got a used with one year warranty for $60 for a normally $400+ part (for this other vehicle).
Also check dealers that sell online for better prices or Autozone for a ? quality unit.
