Steering wheel lock question
Hello folks,
Does your 2007+ Tahoe lock the steering wheel when you take the key out? Today I noticed mine does not do this. Is this only my truck or all are the same? I don't think Tahoe even needs this since when the enigne is not running the steering is hard as hell to turn. However I am curious. Thanks. |
RE: Steering wheel lock question
when you remove the key try turning the wheel all the way to the left or right, that should put it in the lock position.

RE: Steering wheel lock question
My '02 Suburban does not have the steering wheel locking mechanism and I just took for granted the '08 Tahoe doesn't either. I thought GM eliminated this several years ago in all of their vehicles?

I just checked and it dosn't lock. I thought it did. Why would they not want the wheel to lock?

RE: Steering wheel lock question
The integrated steering wheel lock device was introduced in the 70's as another anti-theft measure, this device is no longer affective so it has been eliminated. GM has employed new PassLock anti-theft systems into the Tahoe which are more effective and less prone to malfunction.

RE: Steering wheel lock question
Was there ever an instance where one of the plastic teeth broke and allowed the wheel to lock with the key in the on position?
|
RE: Steering wheel lock question
Steering wheels have locked up more times than you could shake a stick at, and that goes for all the manufacturers.

I'll bet that's a cheap thrill if you're going down the hwy at speed. Probably have some extra laundry when you get home. ;)
