Suburban exhaust question
Hi I have a 2002 suburban with the 5.3l vortex engine and I was wondering if anybody knows if the stock exhaust was a straight through design or did it have baffles in it. Any info would be greatly appreciated

All OEM exhaust systems are baffled. It's the only way to absorb enough sound for a quiet exhaust. The PO of my '93 Suburban put a Flowmaster on which is still a baffled or chambered muffler but it is too loud for my liking. It will come off someday.

Thanks that's what I thought. I just order a magnaflow muffler the other day with a straight through design so it will probably be slot louder. Do you think I have to worry about backpressure? It will be better to have the magnaflow I hope.

The computer will adjust to the reduced back pressure but it may not enhance hp or torque as the engine parameters (cam, timing, etc) are designed for the whole system.
