Default Suburban rear liftgate

I have a 2007 Suburban and when I recently opened the rear lift gate, it did not raise easily and will not stay up. Any Ideas as to what could be happening or how to fix?

Power liftgate?

If not, I'd stay one or both of the gas struts are shot and need to be replaced.

Welcome to the forum.

I agree. The struts need replacement ASAP. If it's a power gate, don't open 'til ready to replace as it may strip the gears. Be sure to support the gate w/ a 2X4 before removing the struts as it is very heavy. It's an easy DIY job.
