Tahoe Navigation Suggestions
here's my 'little' wish list:
Suggestions for Chevrolet Navigation / Electronic systems from my experience with my 2009 Tahoe LTZ.
1. Ability to disable ‘beep’ noise when using the touch screen
2. Singular button for all voice commands. It is a voice command; if I say ‘Call Dad’ or ‘Radio 20 XM’ the same system can decode it, why does it need two buttons? Why do I have to decide which one to push? Why is one a beep, and the other is ‘ready’?
3. When I press the cancel button for the radio voice recognition, I know I pressed it, seeing as how… I pressed it, which means I want to exit it and move to something else as quickly as possible. The radio saying, slowly ‘Voice Recognition Canceled’ is needless and time consuming
4. When driving somewhere, it is always safe to assume that I want the ‘fastest’ route. Don’t give me 20 options, if I wanted options I would drive around randomly until I found it. You’re a GPS, not a suggestion box.
5. Allow manual entry of addresses on the move (may require shooting some lawyers)
6. Show the NAME of the person calling me on the dash, not just their phone number. It is NOT cute nor helpful to spit the name I programmed in as a voice tag back at me. My phone supports sending the contact’s NAME via Bluetooth, the car should be able to display it.
7. If the vehicle is in park over 30 min with no activity, and the rain sensor senses rain… put the windows up and close the sun roof… with the option to disable this in the DIC
8. The HVAC controls should be integrated into the SAT/NAV… saving the cost of building these into the dash will save enough money to put in a larger 8” GPS screen… just add a ‘temp’ option screen with the same buttons, you can even make them the same color!
9. Destinations with waypoints should be able to be entered the way people think, now backwards. People plan trips by destination 1, then 2, then 3… etc… don’t make me put in my LAST destination then work backwards adding way points until the GPS slows to a crawl figuring it all out
10. When entering way points, let me rearrange them by clicking and dragging (pushing and dragging)
11. Support the A2DP Bluetooth protocol (streaming audio) so I can send my music wirelessly and control my iphone from the dash.
12. Hook the sat/nav up to the OnStar system to pull data from the internet… like weather and gas prices
13. Do what ford does with the sync and not rely on an onstar subscription to call 911 in the event of air bag deployment.
14. Actually say street names! I can’t believe a $2,000+ option can’t do what a $100 garmin can.
Any more ideas?!
