Hi there;
I am digging out this thread from a while back :-)
I am planning to fit the following to my 2000 1500 Suburban 4WD:
265/65x17 on 17x8 rims with 4.5 backspacing
Do you think it will rub or touch?

The 265's are 8.1" wide, just right for those rims.
Offset is stated in positive or negative, which did you meant by "backspacing".

Hi;
I think by backspacing it is the distance from the inner edge of the rim to the flange contact surface... these numbers I quoted are from the vendor's site... they do not seem to state offset...

Not exactly...
It's the distance (inward or outward) from the flat surface of the hub, to the centerline of the rim/tread.

I have 1995 Chevy Silverado and I'm trying to buy new tires but the tires that are on the truck shows up as wrong size . How to find the correct size for my truck.?

Edit
Sticker inside the driver's door tells you what tire size the truck was built with.
