Tahoe & SuburbanThe power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.
Looking for a welder in NJ, or a body person that knows Suburbans to weld some floor panels (I have the panels) into our 2002 former State Police Suburban. Any suggestions?
Know that there will be other things to do when it gets started, but we do like our family truckster (former NJ State Police truck)
Please send any leads of people to do the work to sws@att.net 732-310-2520
they do have adhesives that will bond the panels together and it will never come apart. bodyshop supply stores have them.
the only issue is if it needs to pass inspection.....old regulations may require replacement panels to be welded. structurally and functionally the adhesive is just as good or better.
In NJ they just look to see if lights work and if it passes a OBD2 plug in for emissions.
Outer body rust used to generate a sharp edges failure, not sure now since they check virtually nothing unlike some states that pull a wheel to check brakes and look underneath.
They do have a drive over floor camera to see if cats are in place. Pre '95 non OBD2 are now emission exempt since they stopped tailpipe sniffing.
