02 Sub - Drivers power window
Hi,
I have an issue with my driver's door power window (2002 Suburban 1500).
The error seems to me mechanical, not electrical.
When I wind down the window it goes smoothly to the bottom. However,
at the bottom position the glass seems not to be held in place - when I
slam the door shut it rattles.
Then I wind the window up. It starts fine, but after a third to a half of the
way up it "chokes" and the motor strains and eventually stops. If I then
briefly wind it down, say an inch, something in the door "snaps" loudly and
I can the wind the window all the way up.
If anyone can help me or point me in the direction of a description of the
power windows mechanics I would be very thankful. My Haynes manual
does not cover anything of this.
Thanks
/Hans

the problem could be in the window cable. they seem to go out alot. you will have to take the door apart to see if that is it. when your in there you can check the track but the unit is kinda alomst one piece. if you need to replace the cable you have to buy the whole unit that comes with new track, cable, and motor. that is the fix for this. it is not that hard to do and really don't take very long. I think the whole unit with cable is around the $100 range.

I just checked recently for a rear regulator for my daughter's 2004 Denali at GM Parts Direct and it was $250. Also discovered that the door panels lift off after removal of the screws rather than using the push-in plugs they used to use.
Looks like a real PITA to put in.
