Looking into a 2002 4x4 Chevy Tracker. I live in the white Mountain of Arizona we get a lot of snow. I am woundring.
1) How do they do in the snow?
2) How is the gas mileage? Stop and go. and High way
3) Are they fairly easy to work on?
4) Are they fairly inexpensive? Parts and such
5) How safe are they?
In general any information you can give me would be helpful. Thank you for your time and consideration/.

Hey, I am an employee here at OEHQ and I own a 1999 Chevy Tracker, 4 door hard top, 4X4, Auto, and currently has 101,000 Miles. I bought it 2 years ago with 86,000 miles. I drive between 45-55 miles a day and I can say it gets pretty good gas mileage. I get around 21-23 city and 25-26 Highway. Our offices are here in St. Louis Missouri so we get some pretty good snowfall in the winter. It does great in the snow. I don't need to put it into 4 HI when I jump on the highway when you cant even see the lines on the pavement. As for our back roads, which is what my county is known for, I'll put it into 4 and it does great as long as you don't drive like a mad man. Usually I have to bus my friends around when we have snowfall because I'm the only one that is able to drive in the snow. We also have a big hill that people like to climb and only a few are able to make it up all the way; and I am one of those few. Some people in their F150's and F250's can't make it up. I've pulled people out of mud before as well. Not saying its the stongest thing out there, but it's always gotten the job done for me. As for the cost of parts I am not so sure about because I have never had to replace any. I did have to replace the front two wheels out of my own stupidity. It cost me $50 per wheel and $15 to ship each wheel and $60 for a full set of wheel covers. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Thanks
James Setser
