2006 Trailblazer In The Snow
All:
For the past several snow storms, our '06 TB has performed horrible in the snow! I have never had a car/SUV perform as badly in the snow (NOT ICE) as the TB has. Whether it's in 2WD or 4WD, the backend fishtails like crazy...
Any thoughts on this...

I own an 02 TBlazer.....our performs great. It gets up and goes when i tell it to and stopping is pretty good.
If you were to invest in a better set of tires, it would probably perform a lot better. going to snow tires, or a good set of all seasons(which is what i'm currently using) should make a big difference

RE: 2006 Trailblazer In The Snow
I have a 2004 Trailblazer and have had the same problem. What I have found out is that even though the switch and the light show that the vehicle is in 4h or 4l it is in fact still in 2h. I talked to the dealer today and have an appointment on Monday to have it looked at. He said that there are several reasons that it is not working properly. Switch, activator, vacuume or a combination of these. I have found that if I leave it in 4auto that it will get me unstuck most of the time. It does not stay locked in 4h and waits to get wheel slippage. I am thinking that it is a vacuume leak because of this. I can hear the transfer case engage, but then it releases almost instantly.
Hope this help, it is not the way you are driving or your tires, it is the darn chevrolet 4 wheel drive system.

learning how to drive might be a good place to start
does your vehicle have stabilitrak or traction control on it?
because if it has stabilitrak it would never kick out very far without it correcting it self immediately and with traction control your not spinning your tires into the corner so fish tailing usually wont happen

Snow driving isn't hard, you just have to watch what you are doing. My Mom's Envoy seemed to take the snow(what was left of the snow) fine. Its not a 4wd, but we just took it easy.
