Oil Dipstick

After draining my oil, I put six quarts of oil in my '04 Chevy Trailblazer (V6), started the engine for 1-3 minutes, checked the reading on the dipstick and found that it reads full. However, the owner's manual states that 7 quarts are needed. Am I not reading the dipstick correctly? The line beneath the "F" is the full mark, correct?

Make sure the oil level mark is within the cross hatch section of the dipstick.. some claim the right mark on the dipstick is the dot above the F on the dipstick, which to me is overfilled, but they say all of the envoys, trailblazers they have changed have this dipstick and when you put 7 qts in them this is where it ends up. too much confusion. For me the easiest to use is the Mr Gasket AT Dipstick.
